This is my second and most meaningful tattoo. I got it done at Rising Dragon Tattoos in Manhattan, NY. It’s a compass with the initials of my parents and my sisters. The middle is a heart that connects all of them to me. I don’t know how I came up with that idea, but I wanna believe that if there is an afterlife, I can use that compass to guide me to them if we’re separated. It’s a really personal and poetic tattoo, and I love it.

I got my tattoo from my good friend Kevin at Heck Yeah Tattoo’s in Charlotte, NC. It was my first tattoo and he surprised me with this huge 10 x 6 piece of art. I was scared shitless but I definitely enjoyed the experience. My tattoo doesn’t really have a meaning. Rather it is simply an idea that has changed me as person. Even now it is difficult to explain but in an extreme state of meditation I found my purpose in the trees.

I don’t really have a story behind this, besides I love cheetah print and roses. :) The wonderful person who did it is Kris Haley at House of Ink, in Jacksonville Illinois. I couldn’t be happier with it!
This is my mermaid made in Rio de Janeiro, in Muai thay tattoo studio.
Since I was a kid, all my stuff was always full of sea things; I have always loved pirates, beaches, ships and, of course, mermaids. Somehow I always felt homesick from somewhere I didn’t know, and everytime I met the seaside, my heart was full of power again; like I was part of it.
I went through depression and eating disorders, feeling hopeless and alone, but last year, I joined an african religion, wich is very spiritual, called “candomblé” (common here in Brazil). In this religion, we have a big respect about nature, and we have lots of “gods” representing it. We believe people born influenced by certain of this gods/elements, calling them their fathers or mothers, and I came to discover that my mothers are mermaids- from the sea, and from the waterfalls (yemanja, oxum).
This tattoo represents my origins, my love for my religion, and remembers me that doesn’t matter how homesick, sad, or desperate I am, because I’ll always have somewhere to come back and feel near god (yes, we believe in god), and my own nature.
the writing is of my closest relatives, as well as the word serenity. Everything else are things that intrigue me, and make me happy.
